Problem: There are tons of people who want to help others in need and contribute to their community- whether that be out of the kindness of their hearts, needing good karma brownie points, or needing volunteer hours. On the flip side, there are communities in need of help. Exemply, Low-income neighborhoods are often neglected by the government and need support, while college students can benefit from helping each other through acts of kindness.
Solution: Acts of Kindness provides a user-friendly platform where individuals can post their own skills and offers for help, making it easy to connect those who need help with those who need it. Users can also post calls for help, where they ask the community to assist them wit their struggles. Whether it's building furniture for someone in need, donating a kidney, or helping a disabled person move furniture, our website bridges the gap between those who need assistance and those willing to offer it.
Analysis: While there are existing volunteer platforms, none focus specifically on acts of kindness in a personal and community-driven way, creating a unique space for meaningful connections. Most of the websites available focus on matching voolunteers with nonprofits, instead of matching individual to individual. Other platforms, like GoFundMe, purely focus on donations, which we would want to avoid with Acts of Kindness. Altnernatively, there is a similar site (that was found after this idea was created) called Wildly Kind that allows users to report acts of kindness within their community, however, they do not help users find opportunities.
Impact and Vision: In the future, Acts of Kindness aims to inspire a global movement of goodwill, fostering a culture of generosity and support that strengthens communities and improves lives. By connecting people through goodwill, we can create a ripple effect of positive change, making a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.
With the wealth gap rising in the united states, communities need to be stronger than ever. By adopting the ideals of a collectivistic mindset, we can create communities where people uplift and help one another, where quality of life increases for everyone.
The website could scale to intruduce impactful opportunities, such as volunteering events, gamified individual "goals" where users can track their goodwill for the week, overseas initiatives, and disaster assistance.
